Molly Gawler and the Goodgolly Orchestra let loose for dancing at Callahan Hall!

The public was invited to chase away the winter chills at a fun-&-festive Valentine's Eve Dance on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at the Lewiston Public Library's Callahan Hall, where fiddler Molly Gawler led a group of our trusty Folque Co-op musicians – aka the Goodgolly Orchestra – in a program of contra and square dances as well as waltzes. Cindy Larock served as caller for the evening.

Folque Co-op Celebrates St. Pat's Day

Several of the Maine Folque Co-op's resident musicians joined forces as “The Sizzling Shamrocks” at Governor's Restaurant in Lewiston on Tuesday, March 17, to entertain diners with a lively mix of both Irish and French Canadian jigs and reels. The Folque Co-op brings NY's fablous young Strawberries & Raspberries to the Twin Cities

Folque Musicians play for "barn dance" at Pineland Farms

A half-dozen or so of our Folque Co-op musicians provided the fuel for dancers' feet at Family Night at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester on August 27, 2015.bass-g1.jpg Designed to evoke the spirit of an old-time barn dance, the event featured a variety of dance tunes -- from jigs & reels to waltzes & two-steps -- performed on fiddles, mandolin, guitar, banjo, and upright bass.

Soirée with Le Bruit

6:30-8:30 pm: a Soirée featuring the Quebecois folk trio Le Bruit Court dans la Ville. In the old-time Franco-American kitchen-party spirit, this festive evening will offer not only music but some fun-&-easy traditional French Canadian contra & square dancing. Joining Le Bruit in providing the music will be a mega back-up band composed of the participants in the afore-mentioned workshops (hold onto your hats, folks!). Workshops in Fiddle, Guitar, & Accordion with Le Bruit

Tuesday, Sept. 1: 3-5 pm: The members of the all-star French-Canadian folk trio Le Bruit Court dans la Ville (The Buzz Around Town) will offer advanced-level workshops in fiddle (Lisa Ornstein), guitar (André Marchand) and accordion (Normand Miron).

Wednesday, Sept. 2: 1:30-3 pm: Le Bruit Court dans la Ville will lead a “chansons à répondre¨ song session; fluency in French not required - lyrics will be provided.

7-8:30 pm: Concert by Le Bruit Court dans la Ville. Location: Bates College's Olin Arts Center, 75 Russell St., Lewiston.
