Steciak's

This evocatively exotic tune was composed by noted New England contra dance guitarist & tunesmith Larry Unger in 1992, who says that he wrote it at the intermission of a contra dance in Newton, Mass., where “instead of eating cookies, I wandered over to the piano and began playing around with a gypsy-sounding scale. I looked up and saw that people were waltzing to my music so I kept on playing. Within a couple minutes I had an A section and part of a B section, which I desperately tried to remember when I got home.” After he finished noodling around with the still-unfinished tune, the fiddler he was playing with that night - Judi Steciak - asked him what it was called, and he cheekily responded “Steciak's.” The name stuck.
