Franco-American House Party, 2010 American Folk Festival

Franco-American folk dancer Cindy Larock, a master artist with the Maine Arts Commission's Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program, is partnered with her former MAC master artist mentor Benoit Bourque in a performance at the 2010 American Folk Festival in Bangor, Maine. Joining them are four of Cindy's former MAC apprentices -- Donna Casavant, Jacynthe Jacques and her children Gabriel and Emma Jacques  -- as well as Donna's daughter Christin and Gabe & Emma's younger sister Laura. Milo Stanley, a former apprentice to MAC master fiddler Doug Protsik, rounds out the dance group. The dance being performed is "Set St. Pierre," a variation of a set carré (square dance) which Cindy collected some 25 years ago from veteran Maine caller Romeo St. Pierre of Livermore Falls. Performing the music are two other MAC master artists -- Greg Boardman on fiddle and Doug Protsik on piano -- assisted by Aliette Couturier on spoons.
