Join the Folque Co-op fiddlers & friends on St. Pat's Day!A feisty crew of musicians from the Maine Folque Co-op will be the focus of a festive St. Patrick's Day dinnertime celebration at Governor's Restaurant in Lewiston this Friday!

The multi-age ensemble - dubbed The Sizzlin' Shamrocks for the occasion - will be ensconced in the back room between 4:30 and 7 p.m. to entertain diners with a lively mix of Irish and French Canadian jigs and reels performed on mandolin, guitar, bodhran and spoons as well as multiple fiddles. Governor's, in turn, has pledged to donate 10% of the proceeds from the restaurant's food sales that evening in support of our youth music program.

In honor of the holiday, the Governor's menu will include a traditional Irish boiled dinner featuring a heaping plate of yummy corned beef, cabbage, carrots, turnips and potatoes, accompanied by a fresh-baked dinner roll from Governor's in-house bakery. Other dining options include a variety of St. Patrick's Day-themed desserts and Maine-Irish brews from Geaghan Brothers Brewing Company in Bangor.

This is the third year that Governor's (located at 1185 Lisbon St./Rte. 196) has hosted this fun event in support of the Maine Folque Co-op and we much appreciate their generosity. The funds raised through this event will go into our travel account help cover the costs of attending the New England Folk Festival in Massachusetts next month as well as a hoped-for trip to Joliette, Quebec, this summer for the Festival Memoire & Racines, one of Canada's premier roots-music gatherings.

We know that St. Patrick would agree that Celtic music is meant to be shared far & wide, so - true to the Folque Co-op's mission to bring the generations together through music - five of us will be in Brunswick earlier on Friday afternoon performing for the residents at the Coastal Landing Retirement Community.
