The Story Behind the Tune

The tune was composed by Réjean Brunet, the talented accordionist and bassist for the world-renowned Québécois folk band Le Vent du Nord. Since its release, it has been embraced by fiddlers, mandolinists, and whistle players worldwide due to its infectious energy and clever melodic structure.

The title, “The Ice House,” refers to the traditional structures used to store ice harvested from frozen lakes and rivers during the winter—a fitting image for a tune that feels both crisp and brightly rhythmic.
